SPOTSWOOD – He was charged with seven counts of sexually abusing children and could spend 10 to 20 years in state jail.
The 45-year-old Raymond Remus is being charged with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, three counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
For first-degree crimes, you can go to jail for 10 to 20 years.
Court papers say that Remus was first arrested on August 22 on a charge of aggravated sexual assault related to an event on February 19 when two teens who were friends with Remus’ child slept over at his house.
Ciccone said that after that arrest, two more minor victims were found, which is what led to the second-degree sexual assault charges.
Charges were brought against Remus because of something that happened in July: court papers say he exposed himself during a FaceTime video call.
A North Brunswick prison called the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center is where Remus is being held.
At 9 a.m. on Oct. 1, he is due in court for a pre-indictment meeting with Superior Court Judge Colleen Flynn.
Phone Detective John Fedak of the Spotswood Police at 732-251-2121 or Detective Ryan Kirsh of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit at 732-745-3711 if you know anything.
