The problems faced by air passengers in getting their baggage after travel are going to be eliminated. Taking cognizance of the cases of delay in receiving baggage, BCAS has sent new instructions to seven airlines in this regard. Aviation companies have been asked to ensure delivery of the last baggage within 30 minutes.
These companies received instructions
The seven airlines which were booked by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on Sunday Gave new instructions on baggage delivery to airlines, which include Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Vistaar, Air India Express Connect and Air India Express. All the companies have been asked to make necessary arrangements to ensure delivery of the final baggage within 30 minutes.
Companies got time till February 26
According to the Bureau, the aviation companies All baggage must be delivered within 30 minutes as per the Service Quality Requirements of Operation, Management and Delivery Agreement (OMDA). For this, all companies should speed up preparations from now on. The Bureau has given only time till February 26 to the airlines to make preparations to ensure service.
Monitoring was being done since last month
By BCAS since last month. The delivery of baggage was being monitored by various companies. The bureau started monitoring six major airports of the country in January 2024. The bureau was monitoring how long after the flight’s arrival the baggage starts arriving and how much time the companies are taking to deliver the last baggage.
Monitoring was being done on a weekly basis.
The Bureau says that the delivery of baggage by the airlines was being monitored on a weekly basis. According to the Bureau, the performance of the companies has improved, but it is still not as per the mandate. The mandate says that baggage delivery should begin within 10 minutes of flight arrival and the last bag should be delivered within 30 minutes.
